Position title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantitative Population Ecology and Statistical Modeling Salary range: The posted UC system-wide salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 23 for the salary range at UCSB. A reasonable estimate for this position is $64,480 to $71,908. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. Position description
The Marine Science Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara, seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantitative Population Ecology and Statistical Modeling to study the interacting effects of extreme weather events, infectious disease, invasive species, and other factors on the site occupancy, abundance, and resilience of amphibian populations in California. The Postdoctoral Researcher would work closely with Drs. Cheryl Briggs and Samantha Stevenson at UC Santa Barbara, and Dr. Pieter Johnson at the University of Colorado, Boulder. We seek a candidate with a background in analysis of ecological or environmental data sets. Experience with analysis of complex data sets, Bayesian methods, Geographic Information Systems, spatial statistics, and/or climate data are preferred. The overall objective will be to integrate multiple streams of field data through creative statistical approaches to quantify the factors affecting the spatial distribution, abundance, and viability of populations of threatened amphibian species in California. Data sources include multiple multi-year time series of amphibian populations, pathogens, invasive species, and other aspects of the freshwater systems, collected from many ponds distributed across a landscape, climate data, and data on the physical properties of the ponds on the landscape. Writing and publishing results in peer-reviewed manuscripts is expected.
They will develop appropriate statistical models to identify and quantify the impacts of extreme weather events, and other factors, on amphibian species occupancy, abundance, and resilience.
The research work will be conducted solely in California and the on-site work location is in Santa Barbara, California.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD program (or equivalent) except the dissertation in ecology, geography, statistics, data science, or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment.
