POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Quantum Foundry (QF) is a next generation materials foundry that develops materials and interfaces hosting the coherent quantum states needed to power the coming age of quantum-based electronics. The mission of the Foundry is to develop materials hosting unprecedented quantum coherence, train the next generation quantum workforce, and to partner with industry to accelerate the development of quantum technologies. Widely recognized as one of the top five materials research facilities in the world, the Materials Research Lab (MRL) serves as the innovation engine for discoveries in new materials, operating facilities that are widely used by a broad community. The QF and MRL of the University of California Santa Barbara are searching for a qualified and driven individual for a Specialist (Step commensurate with experience). The position will be jointly appointed to the Quantum Foundry of California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI, 50%) and the TEMPO shared facility of the (MRL, 50%) to assist in the operation and management of a suite of shared facilities instruments, specifically, a variety of low temperature measurement systems.
Job duties include:
CNSI-Quantum Foundry (50%):
MRL-TEMPO (50%):
responsible for the Triton dilution refrigerator, but also including Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) and Magnetic Property Measurement System (MPMS) and all of their measurement Options.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Master's degree in a physical sciences discipline or at least 5 years of experience in low temperature measurements.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
For Full Specialist consideration: Requires a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or have ten or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
